OSSINING, New York (March 2003) -- Habitat for Humanity making a mess in a Westchester neighborhood?

Bart Lansky stands in a lot owned by the village of Ossining, New York, and points to a house being built by Habitat for Humanity at 69 Hunter St.

Lansky owns the houses on his left and right.

He says that debris, including sinks and toilets, has been dumped on the land.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families.
